When you mention oil, first thing that maybe comes to your mind is Norway. It hasn´t been like that always. Back in 1969 Dutch company got a permission to conduct geological surveys in the waters off Norway´s coast and five years later the largest oil field found in history was a fact. From that moment everything has been happening in fast pace. 1972 Norwegian government started the national oil company Statoil. In the early 1990´s, Statoil expanded their geographical presence and portfolio of oil and gas fields. Today, they are engaged in projects worldwide—in Europe, the Americas, Asia, Australia and Africa. Statoil operates in more than 30 countries and is the 11th biggest oil company in the world with over 250 000 employees. In Stavanger you can visit Norwegian Petroleum museum where you can find old equipments from oil rigs and learn more about the history of oil. It´s interactive environment suitable for both adults and kids
